Back again to the tempting underworld that is LJ [31 Jan 2005|03:49pm]
[ mood | blah ]

Hey...
Thought about how I used to have a LiveJournal the other day and decided to check and see what's been going on. Lots of stuff. Interesting.
Nothing to really comment on. Everything's pretty much the same, except that I finally moved out of the shit hole that was Daytona Beach. I'm back in Orlando, thank God (or Allah, or Damian, or whoever I'm supposed to thank). Now instead of only one place to go to for a midnight snack, there's a million places to help harden my arteries! Very exciting.

Well, tomorrow is my very last day at my old job. Sad, but kind of a relief, too. I'll be glad to move on. However, no hotel job=no internet computer until we finally decide to hook it up at home. So I won't be on LJ for a while. Which, again, is kind of a relief. Although I will miss reading about my favorite people's lives. :-) You all know who you are.

Murder by Death rocked, and so did Rasputina. Didn't think I'd like them, but they put on a good show.

Don't have any shows planned for awhile...June will be chock-full, but April and May are looking scarce.

New job is cool...I just want to get trained quick so I can start making money.

Lots of things going on, but I don't feel like updating all of them. I'll just tell whoever reads this shit that I'm going to see Murder by Death in Atlanta on Tuesday, and I quit my job and got a new one where I'll hopefully make beaucoups more money. Because I deserve it like that.

And I'm so tired...I'm too young to be so tired all the time. No more waking up at 6am (okay, 6:30am since I'm always late) any more!!!!

<3

Oh...and fuck the critics. I LIKED the Whole Ten Yards.

So who saw the best show in the whole world on Sunday, 3/28?? Um, that would be ME. The Twilight Singers were amazing, which was good since they were kind of a disappointment on Saturday in Orlando. I guess Greg Dulli just really doesn't like Florida, because while he was only semi-awesome at the Social, he was ultra-mega-super awesome in Atlanta.
If you don't have their album(s), buy one now. Or download it. Whatever. But you're seriously missing out.

I am very lucky.

In life and love, mostly, but what else matters?

I wish I could give everyone who is going through a tough time right now a little slice of my happiness so that they would feel even just a little better...but I can't so instead I'll just say that I hope they believe as much as me that whatever doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. And I hope every day gets easier. If you are reading this and think this is about you, it probably is.

<3

P.S. I'm seeing The Twilight Singers tomorrow...that's the most amazing thing I've heard all day.

Ticketmaster sucks more than Heidi Fleiss in a marathon.

Other than that, we had a great time at all of our shows, excluding, of course, the first Thursday show which was cancelled because Davey Havok can't hang. Oh, well...Thursday and Co&Ca rocked, as usual.

Murder by Death was AMAZING. If anyone hasn't already bought their old or new album, at least get one of them. They are soooo awesome, especially live, and they are the coolest people, too.

5 days till The Strokes!!

I'm too lazy to look back at my previous entry to see how many days left in my countdown to awesome music...
I'm a VERY lazy person.

I think I'm going to start classes in March...I need to get out of my rut.

My boyfriend bought me an amazing Modest Mouse shirt. It's green and pink and white and...I love it. AND I love him.

WHEN THE FUCK IS IT GOING TO GET HOT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I'm sick of freezing my bony ass off everyday. Maybe I should gain some weight...

Ewww...I'm addicted to Britney's "Toxic." It's so embarassing but at the same time, soooooo good.

31 days until The Strokes!!

Nothing much going on...same shit different day, which is good because I really enjoy my life. :-)

My boyfriend's going to see Modest Mouse this Sunday, and I gave away my ticket because I thought I'd have to work. Now, however, I don't, so I'm stuck without a ticket or my honey on Sunday night. :-( Ahhh, I'll get over it.

I'm sooooo sleepy lately. I slept 10 hours last night. I'd sleep 10 more tonight, but we're going out, so I'll probably only get 4. Too much sleep is bad for you anyway, I think.

I started a protest at work...I'm refusing to cover my eyebrow ring anymore. We'll see how long that'll last. I may or may not be willing to lose my job over it...it just depends on my mood each day.

I was a mega-slacker and didn't get tix to see Thursday in GA for my honey's birthday. Now they're sold out. So I got tix for the 2nd date they added at the HOB instead. See?? I may fuck up, but I make up for it.

We're going to go see Murder by Death & Denali at Will's Pub on March 6th. My boyfriend's been listening the shit out of some MBD lately...I hope they perform up to standards for him. He's very particular and kind of a snob when it comes to bands. It's pretty annoying, but I guess he has to have a flaw. :-)

I'm very excited that I just have to work tomorrow and then I have Friday off. Then I have to work Sat-Mon, I'm having a bunch of friends over Mon nite for dinner and beer and stuff, and then I'm off Tues AND Wed. I never get two days off in a row!!

Did YOU buy the Kenna CD yet??
XOXO

This made me smile.... [27 Jan 2004|02:25pm]
[ mood | giggly ]

The following excerpts are actual answers given on history tests and in Sunday school quizzes by children of 5th and 6th grades ages in Ohio. They were collected over a period of three years by two teachers. These prove that kids should rule the world as it would be a laugh a minute for us adults leaving no time for war or to argue.

>Ancient Egypt was old. It was inhabited by gypsies and mummies who all wrote in hydraulics. They lived in the Sarah Dessert. The climate of the Sarah was such that all the inhabitants have to live elsewhere.
--------------------------------------
>Moses led the Hebrew slaves to the Red Sea where they made unleavened bread, which is bread made without any ingredients. Moses went up to Mount Cyanide to get the ten commandos. He died before he ever reached Canada but the commandos made it.
--------------------------------------
>Solomon had three hundred wives and seven hundred porcupines. He was a actual hysterical figure as well as being in the bible. It sounds like he was sort of busy, too.
--------------------------------------
>The Greeks were a highly sculptured people and without them we wouldn't have history. The Greeks also had myths. A myth is a young female moth.
--------------------------------------
>Socrates was a famous old Greek teacher who went around giving people advice. They killed him. He later died from an overdose of wedlock which is apparently poisonous. After his death, his career suffered a dramatic decline.
--------------------------------------
>In the first Olympic games, Greeks ran races, jumped, hurled biscuits and threw the java. The games were messier than they show on TV now.
--------------------------------------
>Julius Caesar extinguished himself on the battlefields of Gaul. The Ides of March killed him because they thought he was going to be made king. Dying, he gasped out, "Same to you, Brutus."
--------------------------------------
>Joan of Arc was burnt to a steak and was canonized by Bernard Shaw for reasons I don't really understand. The English and French still have problems.
--------------------------------------
>Queen Elizabeth was the "Virgin Queen." As a queen, she was a success. When she exposed herself before her troops they all shouted "hurrah!" and that was the end of the fighting for a long while.
--------------------------------------
>It was an age of great inventions and discoveries. Gutenberg invented removable type and the Bible. Another important invention was the circulation of blood.
--------------------------------------
>Sir Walter Raleigh is a historical figure because he invented cigarettes and started smoking.
--------------------------------------
>Sir Francis Drake circumcised the world with a 100 foot clipper which was very dangerous to all his men.
--------------------------------------
>The greatest writer of the Renaissance was William Shakespeare. He was born in the year 1564, supposedly on his birthday. He never made much money and is famous only because of his plays. He wrote tragedies, comedies, and hysterectomies, all in Islamic pentameter.
--------------------------------------
>Writing at the same time as Shakespeare was Miguel Cervantes. He wrote Donkey Hote. The next great author was John Milton. Milton wrote Paradise Lost. Since then no one has ever found it.
--------------------------------------
>Delegates from the original 13 states formed the Contented Congress. Thomas Jefferson, a Virgin, and Benjamin Franklin were two singers of the Declaration of Independence. Franklin discovered electricity by rubbing two cats backward and also declared "A horse divided against itself cannot stand." he was a naturalist for sure. Franklin died in 1790 and is still dead.
--------------------------------------
>Abraham Lincoln became America's greatest Precedent. Lincoln's mother died in infancy and he was born in a log cabin which he built with his own hands. Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves by signing the Emasculation Proclomation.
--------------------------------------
>On the night of April 14, 1865, Lincoln went to the theater and got shot in his seat by one of the actor's in a moving picture show. They believe the assassinator was John Wilkes Booth, a supposedly insane actor. This ruined Booth's career.
--------------------------------------
>Johann Bach wrote a great many musical compositions and had a large number of children. In between he practiced on an old spinster which he kept up in his attic. Bach died from 1750 to the present. Bach was the most famous composer in the world and so was Handel. Handel was half German, half Italian, and half English. He was very large.
--------------------------------------
>Bethoven wrote music even though he was deaf. He was so deaf that he wrote loud music and became the father of rock and roll. He took long walks in the forest even when everyone was calling for him. Beethoven expried in 1827 and later died for this.
--------------------------------------
>The nineteenth century was a time for great many thoughts and inventions. People stopped reproducing by hand and started reproducing by machine. The invention of the steamboat caused a network of rivers to spring up.
--------------------------------------
>Cyrus McCormick invented the McCormick raper, which did the work of a hundred men.
--------------------------------------
>Louis Pasteur discovered a cure for rabbits but I don't know why.
--------------------------------------
>Charles Darwin was a naturalist. He wrote the Organ of the Species. It was very long people got upset about it and had trials to see if it was really true. He sort of said God's days were not just 24 hours but without watches, who knew anyhow? I don't get it.
--------------------------------------
>Madman Curie discovered radio. She was the first woman to do what she did. Other women have become scientists since her but they didn't get to find radios because they were already taken.
--------------------------------------
>Karl Marx was one of the Marx brothers. The other three were in the movies. Karl made speeches and started revolutions. Someone in the family had to have a job, I guess.

35 days till Thursday!!

Saw The Butterfly Effect...I thought it was amazing, but that's just me.

Now for the serious stuff:
This petition was on another LJ and I think it's a very important issue. A preacher in Wyoming wants to erect a "monument" for Matthew Shepard, a gay college student who was the victim of a brutal hate-crime murder 5 years ago. This supposed monument will actually state the date of Matthew's murder as the date that he entered Hell for his "defiance" of God's warning against homosexual relationships. I'd just like to point out one thing: I am a Christian, but of a very different variety than some. I believe completely and wholly in loving everyone no matter what their race, sexual orientation, beliefs or disbeliefs, and religion. I don't believe in Hell because I don't believe that someone as all-forgiving and compassionate as God is supposed to be would give us free-will and then create a place for us to go and "burn for all eternity" when we choose to act on our free-will. I don't believe that someone like Matthew, a HUMAN BEING like you or me, should have died because he was born to love in a different sort of way than some others may choose. And I do believe that those people who call themselves "Christians", but who would agree to something like a statue which forever immortalizes a man's murder, are being punished, not by God but by Karma, because we are no longer allowed to use God's name in our classrooms or on our currency or in any other way that might offend other people. Good job, guys. You turned a beautiful religion into something that scares and pisses people off.
Please take a second to at least read this petition, and then if you agree with it, sign it and maybe post it on your own LJ or pass it along through e-mail to your friends. I think this could turn out to be a huge step in one of two directions for our country and for all human beings...I just hope it's a step in the right direction.

Thanks for reading. :-)

I haven't booked our hotel rooms yet...I need to quit being a slacker and take care of that.

I quit my dumbass second job, but I still have to go in and work there for the next two weekends, which sucks. Now I don't know what I'm going to do, though, because I want to go on a cruise with my honey this October but I need EXTRA money to do that and I just got rid of my extra money.

Hmm...maybe I'M the dumbass.
